Rotterdam

Studio Hermanides designed the exclusive dream interior for a penthouse of a new residential tower in Rotterdam. The layout of this luxury residence, as well as the positioning of (bespoke) pieces of furniture, were all designed by interior designer Jeroen Machielsen, and uniquely reflect the urban environment. The residents now enjoy the stunning views of the iconic Erasmus bridge from both the kitchen and the bedroom. Studio Hermanides took on the entire project from start to finish, from the layout to the production of the pieces of furniture and from supervising the construction works to the linen curtains, the crockery, and the artworks.

The inspiring hallway already sets the stage for what the rest of the penthouse offers. The elegant decorations and the large zebrano wood closets are a clear indication of the luxury and classy style while, at the same time, the dark colour scheme will want you to explore what’s behind the huge glass doors. As a visitor, you are drawn towards the light. And then, upon entering the living area, you cannot help but be overwhelmed by the wow-effect that starts with the stylishly furnished living room with its spacious layout and see-through fireplace to create the perfect setting for a cosy evening with family and friends.

To the right of the living, Studio Hermanides designed a warm and inviting workspace and library. To the left, the wooden slatted wall and clear sightline give a riveting peek of the dining area and kitchen. As both residents are keen cooks, Jeroen wanted to make sure that their dream kitchen would become the beating heart of the penthouse. The warm and rich materials, the perfect detailing, and the truly dazzling views have resulted in an elegant and unique setting.

Apart from the main bedroom, Studio Hermanides realised two more en-suite guest bedrooms and the residents can keep fit in their private gym. One of the eye-catching elements is the free-standing bath in the residents’ bathroom. By placing the elegant bath on a platform – made of the same beautiful natural stone – it literally takes the centre stage. The fireplace next to the bath makes the bathroom even more luxurious.
